Induction/Intake System Cleaning/Service (Gas only)

If you have noticed your vehicle has started to feel sluggish, getting worse gas mileage or slow start-ups, you might need a simple air induction system service. This service is an important maintenance procedure that aids the longevity and performance of your vehicle by ensuring your engine has sufficient air flow to the combustion chamber and there is no carbon build up on the fuel injectors. This service should be routine maintenance for both commercial and industrial vehicles. If your vehicle is used for frequent short trips, especially in cold weather, it is a good idea to schedule a service and have a professional assess the condition of your induction system to avoid future downtime and additional costs.

What is an induction system cleaning?

The process includes cleaning the air intake valves, the throttle body, and fuel injectors. The induction service is a way to clean some of the soft deposits inside the intake system of an engine without taking it apart. Carbon build up in the system gradually occurs overtime and needs to be cleaned out. If left unchecked, the carbon build up can clog vital fuel induction components, e.g, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel injectors & intake valves. Our technicians at AG Automotive will not perform any unnecessary maintenance that wastes our customers time and money.

What are the benefits of cleaning the throttle body & fuel injectors?

A throttle body is responsible for regulating the amount of air and fuel mixture that is present in the chamber before combustion. Your vehicle’s computer determines the ideal ratio directly based on input given from the accelerator pedal. In a direct injection system, fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber. Over time, the throttle body and fuel injectors can become clogged with carbon and other debris, severely impacting the overall performance of your vehicle.

Fuel Induction Service vs. Fuel System Cleaner

The fuel induction service starts with adding a chemical agent to a fuel induction cleaning unit and is pressurized. From there, it goes down through the hose and into the running engine. A nozzle, like a nozzle on a spray gun, is attached to the throttle body and sprays the chemical agents down into the induction system. The highly-specialized chemicals clean the throttle body as well as the entire induction system, including the intake valves.

Adding a fuel system cleaner is a cheaper but less effective alternative to a full fuel system induction service. They share a common goal in breaking down carbon build up on the injectors as the gas-chemical mixture runs throughout the fuel system.
